Details of generations 15 - 23 have been taken from my own research carried out in the Borthwick Institute, York, from the numerous internet genealogy research sites, from a great many of my kind and helpful family members and from my own personal knowledge.

Married Francis Tinniswood in 1781.

Christened at Copmanthorpe in 1771. She married Jonathan Thompson in Acaster Malbis in
1792.

Born in Pollington in 1861 and, unfortunately, died shortly after birth.
2. James Norfolk
Born in Pollington in 1862, died in Tinsley, Sheffield in 1913.
First worked as agricultural labourer then went into the army. Married Emily Arnold (1868-
1943) in Snaith in 1892. Left the army in 1898 after completing 7 years, following on from 5
years in the army reserve. Moved to Sheffield around 1900 and is shown on 1901 census as
living at 58 Pearce Road, Attercliffe, and working as an Underground Horsekeeper. Both
James and Emily are buried in Tinsley Park Cemetery.

3. Hannah Norfolk
1866-1932, born in Pollington. Never married.
4. John William Norfolk
Born in Pollington in 1871, died there in 1943.
In 1901 census was listed as engine driver, as was his father.
Married Alice Mary Ellin (1877-1921) in 1902.
Children: William 1903-1922, Mary b1904, Annie b1905, Walter 1906-1907, Minnie 1907-
1958, James 1909-2000 (he married H Mary Howsam and had two sons, Arthur b
1942 who married Jean Harris b1951, and Keith b1954), Emma 1910-2003, Fred

Born in Cowick near Snaith in 1894.
Married Arthur Groom in Sheffield in 1919.
Children: Eric b1920, Violet b1924, Ronnie b1925, Winnie b1926, Iris b1928, Mavis b1930.
2. Walter Norfolk
1895-1960, born in Lofthouse, near Wakefield, cremated in Pontefract.
Worked as a miner and lived at Great Houghton. Married Eleanor (Nelly) Green (1896-1993) in
Sheffield in 1919. She was a very active socialist and had a street named after her (Norfolk
Road) in Great Houghton.

3. William Arnold Norfolk
1898-1961, born in Outwood, near Wakefield.
Married Edna Winifred Gilpin in Sheffield in 1922.
Children: Joan 1923-2004, Aubrey 1925-1977, Brian b1927, Hazel 1931-1933, June 1935- 2004 and Peter 1940-1982.
All children born in Thurnscoe.
2. Constance (Connie) Norfolk
1923-2005, born in Great Houghton.
Married Percy Peplow.
Children: Margot and Mary.
3. Raymond Walter Norfolk
1929-1995, born in Great Houghton.
Married Nellie b1929 in Barton in 1951.
Attended Barnsley Grammar School and then went into the army where he trained on radar
installations. Worked as a Design Engineer and draughtsman and could turn his hand to most
things electrical or mechanical - and frequently did. Widely known and loved for his sense of
humour and intellect. He had a series of heart attacks in 1982 followed by a number of strokes
which took away most of his vision and short-term memory as well as much of his mobility. He
died as a result of further strokes in February 1995 and was cremated at Pontefract
Crematorium.
